5 ways to add an extra WOW factor to your wedding

5. Penant Flags/Bunting

Have you ever seen those triangular flags on a string that many festivals, street parties and celebrations often use? They’re called penant flags and aren’t just limited to garish bright colours. For weddings that have a more rustic feel, there are a wide range of vintage-style fabric options across stores like Etsy and Not On The High Street that you might prefer. These are best arranged from the centre of the room to the walls, or from one end of the room to the other and add a rustic and traditional feel to your reception room at a minimal cost. Prices for bunting/penant flags start from £8 per 40 flags.

4. Festoon Lighting

The most simple, inexpensive way to add a wow factor to your wedding can be acheived using the most simple of accessories. Festoon lights. Often referred to as fairy lights or festival lights, these simple strings of bare lights can be secured from the centre of any venue to the surrounding walls to create a festival or carnival tent effect that will transform a room and lower the ceilings of larger venues to make the room feel more cosy.  Prices for festoon lighting hire start from £150

3. Wall Uplighters

Simple yet effective, wall uplighters create a colourful wash of magenta, blue, red or whatever colour you choose to the walls of your wedding venue instantly changing the look and feel of the room and adding a splash of colour to bare walls. Perfect to add ambience to a marquee without the need for the main lights on all the time, these can be linked together and slowly scroll through different colours, or set on one colour for the duration of the night. Prices for led uplighter hire start from £150

2. Starlit Dancefloor

Adding a dancefloor to your wedding venue certainly adds a touch of class to the area you’ll spend most of the evening! Choose from a range of styles including parque, checkerboard or starlit with twinkling led lights. Many venues have a dancefloor in-built into their function room but they often look tired and uninviting, especially if their carpet is dark and imposing too, it’s hard not to miss. By adding a custom sized dancefloor on top (and they can be added directly over existing ones and carpet), you can ensure your first dance photos stand out from the rest. A dry-ice style fog machine added to your package can also create a thin layer of smoke across the floor to create a first dance in the clouds! Prices for dancefloor hire start from £250

1. LOVE lights

Increasingly popular, these giant 4ft high additions to the side of your dancefloor are hand crafted wooden letters spelling out the word LOVE. Finished in white and featuring antique style fairground lights they’re sure to emphasise the poignancy of your special day and can be positioned anywhere in your reception room. These are great for photographs and have become a talking point of every wedding event we’ve hired them out at! They look stunning next to a starlit dancefloor and add a warm wash of light to an often dark dancefloor area. Prices for LOVE light hire start from £200
